The goal of this
CSEM is to increase the primary care provider’s
knowledge of hazardous substances in the environment and to aid in
the evaluation of potentially exposed patients. After completion of
this educational activity, the reader should be able to discuss the
major exposure route for radon, describe two potential environmental
and occupational sources of exposure to radon, state two reasons why
radon is a health hazard, describe three factors that contribute to
radon toxicity, identify evaluation and treatment protocols for persons
exposed to radon, and list two sources of information on radon.
